Upload a Claim to the Change Healthcare Insurance Clearinghouse

Introduction


Artisan offers uploading of insurance claims via the Change Healthcare Insurance Clearinghouse as an optional service.

There are several ways to access a patient invoice in Artisan (patient tab, snapshots, and invoice summary).  All invoices are found under the Accounting tab.  

For this example above:

  1. Click on the Accounting tab ($ icon) to enter the patient's billing section in Artisan.
  2. Click on the Patient tab.
  3. In the search bar, type the patient's last name first and select the name from the dropdown list.




Select the appropriate invoice for processing by clicking on the plus sign (+) next to the corresponding date of service to expand the invoice details.  






Review the claim to make sure all line items have correct information for the diagnosis, billing terms, and billing instructions.  Click the Upload Claim button to transmit the claim to Change Healthcare.



You will get a pop up window to verify Claim Upload Type:  Primary Insurance, Secondary Insurance, Both Insurance, or Tertiary Insurance. Click on the appropriate choice for Insurance.





You will see the above confirmation letting you know that the upload process has begun.  Click Ok. 





If there any immediate errors with the claim, you will receive a pop up window with Claim Errors that can be fixed and then re-uploaded.





If the claim was uploaded successfully,

  1. You will see the green banner in the top right-hand corner of the page with Claim successfully uploaded.
  2. The Invoice Status has now changed from New to Uploaded to Clearinghouse.






Click the Invoice Action button to expand the menu.

Click Claim History to view the Claim History.






A separate window will open with the Claim Reports for that specific invoice.  This window can be closed when you are finished reviewing.






Change Healthcare offers a comprehensive interface to manage your claims. Click the Account Action tab and select the  Change Healthcare Portal option to view the status of your uploaded claims. You will need a separate password to access this portal. You will receive this password when you open your account with Change Healthcare.






Enter Username and Password specific to the Change Healthcare Customer Portal.
