Embryo Cryo Log

The Embryo Cryo Log registers and tracks the status of every embryo frozen/ transferred in the lab. Additionally, the Embryo Cryo Log permits you to transfer embryos into or out of the laboratory.

Click on Lab Tools (microscope icon) and select Specimen Log from the dropdown menu.



Pull the patient up that you wish to view the Embryo Cryolog for in the patient search field.



Embryo Cryo Log Views and Sorting



You may filter the Cryo Log to display the following.  Select the appropriate radio button for the correct view:

- All cryo embryos listed in the Log regardless of status (cryo vs. thawed).  The color blue represents the embryos that are currently cryo'd.

-The current patient's embryos.  This will pull up all frozen and thawed embryos and oocytes for a patient.

- All cryo embryos in the tanks,

- All embryos that have been thawed.


The Cryo Date and Lab Case ID will be sorted by default from the oldest to the newest.  Click in the cell in Cryo Date or Lab Case ID to make a light gray arrow appear.  Click the arrow to sort by the newest to oldest.

 

Transfer Embryos Into the Lab





Click Transfer Embryos into the Laboratory button to add embryos to the log.  This may be used to transfer embryos in from an outside laboratory to your practice or when starting with Artisan and entering embryos in from your cryolog into the system.


The patient’s name will be displayed at the top of the screen.  Fill in the following fields:


  1. Transfer in date (required)

  2. Cryo in lab or Transferred in (required)

  3. Specimen Source: Autologous, Donated, Donor Egg Bank

  4. ER Date (if applicable)

  5. Specimen Notes



If you select Egg Bank under Specimen Source, you will be prompted to select the egg bank from a dropdown menu.  Click Save.


Once all fields are filled out, click Add Embryo Details into Laboratory.



  1. Cryo Device # (required)

  2. Cryo Date (required)

  3. Tank # (required)

  4. Can # (required)

  5. Cane # (required) 

  6. Plug Color (required)

  7. Embryo import grade 

  8. PGT information: PGT #, PGT date, PGT-a Result, PGT-m Result


Please note that the system will create individual records for up to four embryos contained within a single cryo vial.  Once all required and applicable fields have been filled out, click Commit.


You can continue to add embryos under different devices for the same transfer in date by clicking on the Add Embryo Details into Laboratory.  Once you have added all embryos in, click Save.  The embryos added in will now show in the patient’s embryo cryo log.


Manage/Edit, (Transfer Out/Discard) Embryos in the Cryo Log That Have Been Manually Entered In



To manage embryos entered in the Cryo Log (destroy embryos or transfer embryos out of the lab or edit their information), click the patient's name for the embryo you will be managing.



These are the fields you are able to edit:


  1. Transfer in date, Cryo in lab or Transferred in, Specimen Source

  2. ER Date, Donor DOB

  3. Cryo device #, Cryo date, Tank #, Can #, Cane #, Plug Color

  4. Embryo import grade, ER date, Cryo date

  5. Disposition: Destroyed or Transferred out

  6. Disposition date

  7. Specimen notes


Once all edits have been made, click Commit.


If there are multiple embryos in a vial, changing the designation for one embryo will update the information for all other embryos in that vial.




Transferred Out



To transfer an embryo out of the embryo cryolog, select the disposition Transferred Out and enter a disposition date. If you select transferred out and do not enter a disposition date, the system will prompt you to enter a date before proceeding.  Click Commit.



When Transferred Out is selected, the line item will stay blue and will have a stipple pattern over it.
